Terms of Service
Effective date: October 19, 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and Bruce Wattendorf, doing business as SiteSentrix ("SiteSentrix", "we", "us"). They cover the StitchFoundry cloud service: StitchFoundry accounts, credits, and the AI features paid for with credits. By creating an account or buying credits, you agree to them.
The StitchFoundry app itself is free and open source. You can download, use, change and share the app under its open source licences (MIT or Apache-2.0) without an account. Those licences, not these terms, govern the app's code. These terms apply only when you use our cloud service.
The service includes:
- StitchFoundry Account: signing up, signing in, and seeing your credits and history.
- Credits: prepaid credits used to pay for AI features.
- AI features through our service: Design from Prompt, Redraw Image, Ask About Embroidery and Check My Sew-out, when you pay with credits instead of your own AI key.
- Check My Sew-out: photo troubleshooting of a finished sew-out, including the free monthly checks.
You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live, if older) to create an account or buy credits. Younger sewers are welcome to use the free app, or the service through a parent's or guardian's account, under that adult's supervision.
2. Accounts
- One person, one account. Give a real email address you can receive mail at. Don't share your account or make accounts to collect extra free credits or checks.
- Keep your password safe. We store passwords only in scrambled (hashed) form and can't see them. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
- Sign-ins. Signing in on a device keeps you signed in there. A sign-in that goes unused for 90 days ends on its own. Several wrong passwords in a row lock sign-in for that email for 15 minutes.
- Free sign-up credits. New accounts get 100 free credits. They are a gift, have no cash value, and we may change or stop offering them for new accounts.
3. Credits, prices and payments
Credits are prepaid units you spend on AI features through our service. One credit is worth one US cent of AI use. Current packs:
| Pack | Price (USD) | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Small | $10 | 1,000 |
| Medium | $25 | 2,750 |
| Large | $50 | 6,000 |
- How requests are charged. Each AI request costs what it actually used: the AI company's price for that request times 3, rounded up to whole credits. The app shows your balance and what each request spent. Typical costs today: an Ask question is about 5–15 credits; a Design from Prompt drawing is about 50–100 credits.
- Holds. Before a request starts, we set aside the most it could cost (or all your credits, if you have fewer). When it finishes, we take only what it used and release the rest. You need at least 25 credits to start a request.
- Failed requests are free. A request that fails or that the AI refuses costs nothing.
- Check My Sew-out. Each account gets 3 free checks a calendar month. After that a check costs a flat 10 credits. One check covers the answer, its rounds of design changes and follow-up questions: up to 16 requests within one day. Requests after that are charged like any other.
- Paying. Payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe's own page. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. Prices are in US dollars and don't include sales tax; where the law requires it, tax is added at checkout.
- Price changes. We may change prices, pack sizes, the free checks or the markup. Changes never affect credits you have already bought: their value stays the same. We will show new prices in the app before you buy.
- Credits are not money. Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred to another account, and can only be used on the StitchFoundry service.
4. Refunds and credit expiry
- Bought credits don't expire while your account is open. They are yours until you spend them.
- Refunds. You can ask for a refund of a pack within 14 days of buying it if you have not spent any of its credits. Write to [email protected]. Otherwise purchases are final, except where the law gives you more rights.
- Charged by mistake. If a request was charged wrongly (for example, it failed but credits were taken), tell us and we will put the credits back.
- Free credits and free checks can't be refunded or exchanged for money.
- Chargebacks. If you dispute a payment with your bank instead of contacting us, we may pause the account while the dispute is open.
5. AI features and outside AI companies
- Who runs the AI. When you pay with credits, our service sends your request to Anthropic, which runs the Claude AI, using our own Anthropic account. What you send goes to Anthropic: your text, the images you upload, a summary of your design, and sew-out photos. Anthropic's own terms and privacy policy apply to how it handles that data (anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms and anthropic.com/legal/privacy).
- Your own AI keys. You can instead use the app with your own key from Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, fal or OpenRouter. Then the app talks to that company directly: we don't see those requests, we don't charge credits for them, and that company's terms and prices apply between you and it.
- AI can be wrong. Designs, stitch settings, fixes and troubleshooting advice from the AI are suggestions. They may be wrong, incomplete, or unsuited to your machine, fabric or thread. Check them, and test-sew on scrap fabric before sewing on a garment that matters.
- What the AI won't make. Design from Prompt declines requests for other people's logos, trademarks and characters, and the AI may refuse other requests. A refused request costs nothing.
- Limits. To keep the service fair and working, we limit how many requests run at once, how long replies can be, and how fast requests can be sent.
6. Check My Sew-out and shared photos
Check My Sew-out looks at photos of your finished embroidery and suggests fixes to the design. Sharing a check with us is your choice; it is off unless you tick it.
- Not shared (the default). We pass the photos and design summary to the AI to answer you. Our service does not store the photos; it only passes them on. Anthropic may keep request data for a limited time under its own policy.
- Shared (you tick "Share this check to help improve StitchFoundry"). We keep that check: its photos, the design summary, the AI's answers and the changes it made. If you later check the sew-out after the fix, we link the two so we can learn whether the fix worked. We use shared checks only to improve StitchFoundry's embroidery results.
- Kept private. Shared checks are never published, sold, or shown to other users. Only the people working on StitchFoundry can see them.
- Delete any time. Delete My Shared Sew-out Checks in the Account window removes all of them. You can also ask at [email protected].
- Your photos stay yours. By sharing, you give us permission to store and study those photos and details for the purpose above, for as long as you keep them shared. You can take that permission back by deleting them.
- What not to put in photos. Don't include people's faces, private documents or anything else unrelated to the embroidery.
7. Your designs and content
- You own your work. Designs you make, artwork you upload and embroidery files you export are yours. We claim no ownership of them, and we don't keep your designs on our service. They stay on your computer.
- Only use artwork you have the right to use. Don't redraw, upload or digitize logos, characters, photos or designs you don't own or have permission to use (for example, sports team logos, cartoon characters or commercial embroidery designs). You are responsible for what you make and sell.
- AI-made designs. As between you and us, you may use designs the AI makes for you as you like, subject to the rules above and to the AI company's terms. Others may get similar results from similar requests, and the law on owning AI-made images is still unsettled.
- Permission we need. You give us permission to process what you send (text, images, photos and design summaries) only to run the features you ask for, and for shared checks as described in section 6.
8. Acceptable use
Don't use the service to:
- infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- make hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or illegal content, or anything that breaks the AI company's usage policies;
- get around credit charges, free-check limits or rate limits, or use the free checks for anything other than checking a sew-out;
- resell access to the service or use it to run another product's AI;
- break into, overload, scan or disrupt the service or other people's accounts;
- upload anything with viruses or other harmful code.
If you break these rules, we may refuse requests, pause your account or close it (see section 12).
9. Open source software
The StitchFoundry app and the code of this cloud service are open source under the MIT or Apache-2.0 licence, at your choice. StitchFoundry is based on VectorCraft by the ArtCraft team. Those licences give you rights in the code, including running your own copy of the service. These terms don't limit those rights. They cover only our hosted service: your account, your credits and our AI requests.
If you run your own copy, you are its operator: you set its prices and keys and are responsible for it, and these terms don't apply between you and your users.
10. Disclaimers: test-sew first
Embroidery results depend on your machine, needle, thread, fabric, stabilizer and hooping, which we can't see or control. Always test-sew a design on similar scrap fabric before sewing it on a garment or item that matters.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that designs, stitch files or AI advice will be accurate or suit your purpose. We are not responsible for damaged garments, fabric, thread, needles or machines, or for time spent sewing, as a result of using a design or advice from StitchFoundry.
11. Limitation of liability and indemnity
To the extent the law allows:
- We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost sales, lost data or the cost of replacement items.
- Our total liability to you for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us for credits in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $50.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Your responsibility for what you upload and make (indemnity). If someone makes a claim against us because of artwork you uploaded or digitized, designs you made or sold, or your breaking these terms (for example, a trademark owner objecting to a logo you stitched and sold), you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees. We will tell you promptly about any such claim, and you may help defend it. This doesn't apply to claims caused by our own fault.
12. Ending your account or our service
- You can close your account any time by writing to [email protected]. We delete your account details and shared checks, except records we must keep by law (such as payment records).
- We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms, after warning you where reasonable. If we close it for a reason other than your breaking these terms, we refund the unspent bought credits.
- If we stop the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app and by email, and refund unspent bought credits. The app keeps working with your own AI keys, and your designs stay on your computer.
13. Changes, governing law and contact
- Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. For important changes we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they apply. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using it and ask for a refund of unspent bought credits.
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island, USA. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Rhode Island, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring them where you live. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court instead, where it qualifies.
- The whole agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement about the service. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
